The Vanguard Project is an effort to build a state-of-the-art technological platform, plus the organizational infrastructure behind it, to enable a level of conservative activism -- both online and offline -- previously achieved only by MoveOn.org and Obama for America.
Our team includes alums from PayPal, Apple, and other Silicon Valley legends to deliver something truly awesome, something conservatives everywhere can be proud to use and to be a part of.
And "conservative" is not just a word to us. We, along with the vast majority of Americans, believe in the principles this country was built on. We believe in life, in liberty, and in American exceptionalism. We believe that the government that governs best governs least, and that the state can give you nothing it does not first take from you. We believe in faith and its free expression, individual achievement and initiative, and that all men (and women) are created equal.
We also believe that much of the so-called "conservative leadership" is neither.
Though we don't agree with their philosophy, we are deeply impressed by what MoveOn.org has achieved. Faced with an almost identical leadership crisis on the left, they -- a group of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs at first -- empowered millions to take back their movement and their party. The result? In 2008, MoveOn alone mobilized almost a million volunteers, almost five million members, and almost one hundred million dollars. Oh, and they won. Everywhere.
At TheVanguard.Org, every member will have a voice in what we do, and everyone will have a chance to participate. We mean to build a new governing coalition in America -- just as Reagan did in another era -- based on our shared values rather than single issues. We'll build more than a new, highly advanced technological platform: we'll build a new model for politics -- just as the left has now done -- where regular people are more important than consultants and boardrooms somewhere.
If you're ready to stop losing, and for mainstream Americans to start winning again, we hope you'll join us. It's time we took matters into our own hands.
